The video featured in this blog is a compilation of archive footage downloaded from Youtube, the group has edited the clips using iMovie. In this draft/prototype we are trying to create an advert that will appeal to a young audience, hence the upbeat, modern non-diegetic music and the vehicles featured in the advertisement are stereotypical of the young generation. By using statistics in the advert we hope to add a shock value as well as reinforcing the documentary with solid facts.

Supporting Piece-Magazine Article-Stage 1
The second supporting piece I am going to construct is a Magazine article based on the subject of the documentary, it will also be used to promote the programme to a specific audience, ideally young adults from 16 through to 20.
Firstly, like any task that has to be carried out, I had to do some research about the conventions of a magazine spread. A good place to start was to flick through magazines that were lying around the house, one obvious attribute that magazines have is that they are a lot more graphical and coloured content than, for example, The Times newspaper. Magazines also tend to specialise in particular areas of interest such as Football, Aviation or Fashion. Whilst both magazine and newspaper articles can be formal, magazines contain a lot of illustrative content, usually adding a visual angle to a story, this is one reason why they are a popular source of information.
By creating a magazine spread I hope to catch the intended audience, this possibility can be greatly increased by making an engaging article and publishing it in the most effective area, such as a teenage orientated magazine.

Supporting Piece -Television Ad -Stage: 1
The entire media class has been set a task, to make three supporting pieces to the documentary. Students can make a range of pieces spaning from a magazine spread to a billlboard campaign and a television advertisement to a radio jingle.
My group has come to the decision to make the television ad as a team produced piece whilst making two seperate supporting pieces that will be individualy produced.
Stage 1 of the television ad consists of research, in our case, focusing on teenage driving. There have been and are some hard hitting adverts on television to drive home the dangers of driving in general. The video clips below are advertisements aired on UK TV from the Ministry of Transport to raise awareness about motorbikes and drink driving:

The group have been focusing mainly on the impact of these adverts, as our documentry is of the same genre we need to create an impact like these ads have in order to draw in the audience. Audience feedback can be useful, Youtube is one of the best places to find such opinions.
This link will take you to the Youtube page that contains the 'Think-Drink Driving' advertisement, on the page we were able to read viewers opinions:

Archive From Youtube
After some searching on the internet I came across a very useful piece of software called Youtube Downloader, the program simply allows me to download any clip off Youtube and convert it into a number of file types. The best attribute of the software is that it is completely free (and legal).
I was intreged to find out wether I could actualy do what it said, so I found a relavent clip on Youtube and downloaded it, as promised, converted it to an MPEG 4 file, all very easy and user friendly, imported the clip into iMovie and finaly added a few cross-fades and dissolves.
This piece of software could come in very useful for the rest of the project as it alows us an outlet to obtain archive footage.

Depth
This is an interview the group have put together which expands on previous editing and filming techniques, we have pushed ourselves further whilst creating depth in the piece by adding music and incorporating dynamic shots of the characters. We have been remined that it is not the filming but instead the editing which consumes most of the time when creating a short clip such as this, luckily we have the resources and teaching staff to help us when the editing becomes more technical and specilaised.
This is the final product of some filming and editing that the group composed over the Christmas holiday.
